The Substance Misuse  Partnership for Uist and Barra (SMPUB) is the umbrella organisation for local  agencies involved in the delivery of substance misuse services in Uist and Barra. It embodies a close-working forum for all service providers in the field of alcohol and drug abuse.

Co-ordinating and monitoring the work of its partners, the SMPUB ensures that duplicate services are avoided and, where appropriate, resources are shared. Due to the recent recruitment of a dedicated Team Administrator, some administrative tasks of the member agencies have been reduced significantly, allowing them more time to  concentrate on the provision of efficient, specialised client services. Two Substance Misuse Support Workers, one based in Uist, one based in Barra, complement the existing network of committed support workers employed by the partner agencies.

Regular partnership meetings enhance the close co-operation of the partners in terms of information interchange.

Being a multi-agency project, the SMPUB’s seamless work ultimately benefits its clients. The partnership’s chair, the longstanding and experienced Substance Misuse Co-ordinator for Uist and Barra, monitors and aligns the services provided.

At present, the Substance Misuse Partnership comprises the following partners in Uist and Barra:
